If you were at last week's VIP (Vision/Information/Prayer) you know we talked about this and updated everyone on some curriculum things, especially as it relates to the Christmas series.
HERE is this quarter's schedule

This month's ministry focus is senior citizens
I want to encourage you to think about how you can encourage senior citizens by making cards and/or notes.

HERE is a blog post to help connect Romans 15 with Christmas.

Some REALLY important info we talked about this past Sunday morning!

A couple of us met this morning at around 9:15  am yesterday morning. I must say it was an encouragement to me to hear teachers talking about what they are learning and how they are growing as they teach/prepare their lessons.

Here are a couple of things we talked about from the TEACHER BOOK!

Parent Resources:
Please be sure to give out the weekly take home sheets.  If you find yourself forgetting,
staple them to the children's paper
have a helper pass them out.
There are some great family resources for families to use this year.  Please become familiar with
the format of the weekly sheet
the quarter guide we print out for families.  These can be found in the info rack by the check-in area.
the Family Devotional book published by Generations of Grace.  You can read more about it at http://ekidzministry.blogspot.com/2015/08/new-family-worship-resources-to-help.html

Church-wide Bible Memory Program:
We talked about the church wide Bible memory program, which you can read about at blog.emmanuelbaptist.com/biblememory

Spotlight on the Gospel:
This section in the Teacher Book provides great connection between the Gospel and each week's lesson.

Storyline (a story within a much bigger story):
In each of the lessons this story line connect the story you each teaching with the BIG STORY of the Bible.  We are going to see about getting this story line printed out for each classroom.

Pictures of the Story:
One other resource item we talked about was the one or two laminated color pictures you will have for your classroom each week.  We are also thinking of some ways to put these pictures up in the hallway so parents and visitors can see what we are doing in the classes each week.

Tomorrow we begin another time through the Bible with the Generations of Grace curriculum.

Tomorrow, at 9:15 in the children's chapel, Pastor Dave will be there to review some of the the new features and resources of the curriculum. 

Along with some other resources for teachers to use in their classes.

The info about this meeting was in the church email this week.  This is another reminder.  

Some of the information from this meeting will be posted later this week on this blog.  

We are using the same curriculum (generationsofgrace.com) but they have added some additional resources to their curriculum.

New Fall Quarter! New Resources!

The lessons are the same BUT the format has changed, from the binders to books.

HERE is the schedule for the 2015 Fall Quarter.
The 2nd page is the memory verse schedule.  This schedule also has a lesson connection statement for the verses. 

Some logistical points to remember.

• There are two teacher books for each age level.  One is for the 9:00 am class and the other is for the 10:30 am class.
• There is only one coloring book and activity book for each age group.  Be sure to share these books between the classes.  The activities are listed in the teacher book.  You can find out more about the new format at ekidzresources.blogspot.com
• There is one family devotional book in the classroom as a resource.
• The memory verses are part of a church wide Bible memory program (blog.emmanuelbaptist.com/nextstep) developed from Set 5 of www.fighterverses.com.

There are no set plans for the REVIEW lessons but there will be ideas at  ekidzresources.blogspot.com

The use of STOP signs would be a very helpful visual this week.

Explaining Gamaliel's counsel in Acts 5:38, 39 is essential 

"So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!”

"One of the greatest platform for evangelism is a growing changing life." 
How can we become the opposition to the Gospel?

For younger kids breaking down barriers such as walls of blocks or butcher block paper could be a good visual.
Another example for all ages is receiving directions from two different people, an adult and a friend, which should you follow and why?

This month's memory verses are Philippians 4:12, 13
Remember to keep verse 13 in the context of verse 12.
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me" is not to try superhero type activities.

This week's story and this month's memory verses (12 and 13 together) provide a great start to talk about offerings and giving (spiritual disciplines).

Language differences:

• Take it back to Babel.  Do you remember when we study the Tower of Babel, the sin of the people and the punishment from God (Confusion of Languages).  When the Holy Spirit comes this confusion of languages is temporarily gone.   This problem is not a problem at that time.
• Show it.  Go to biblegateway.com or another online resource and listen to this week's story in a different language.

Power Source:

• They received power when the Holy Spirit came.  Demonstrate this idea of connectedness by using some electrical appliances.  What good is a hair dryer if it is not plugged in?  What good is a radio if it is not plugged in?
