God’s glory fills the temple: 03.23

There are several building ideas in the lesson plans.  Use these or develop your own.

In all of the lesson remember this point:
"Be concerned for God’s glory."

Hebrews 3:4:
For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.

Parent Post regarding Last Sunday's Lesson.

Here is a facebook comment from a parent this week:
Not sure who had [my son] on Sunday morning, but your lesson stuck with him. When he has been praying this week he always says "Thank you for our hearts that had the black word sin in them and are broken... Thank you now we have clean hearts." He's a bit scattered in his thought process, but it is there & coming together.
I know stories like David and Bathsheba are often difficult to teach but when the BIG IDEA of the passage is taught.  It is great.  Thanks everyone for your involvement in EKIDZ!!

God gives Solomon wisdom: 03.16

TEACHER TIPS:
Q&A:  If you could ask God for ANYTHING in the world what would it be?Remember by asking this question you are setting yourself up for whatever the children might answer.  This would provide a good opportunity to find out what the kids like.
Bring it back with what did Solomon ask for?
Point to remember in teaching:God's commands need to be responded to with humility.Remind the kids that they need God's strength to do what God wants them to do.Pray with the kids for the strength to live the way He wants us to live.
New Testament Connection:James 1:5

MISSION SONG:
This is the 4 year olds through 3rd graders have been doing this song each week of Mission's Emphasis Month.

A great, energetic song that glorifies God, speaks the truth of the Bible and gives the kids an opportunity to hear several different languages.

MEMORY VERSES:

Proverbs 1:7a:  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
Proverbs 1:7:  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Compare the responses of Saul and David to their sin.

A great comparison study to do with the kids and/or for yourself is to compare Saul's response to be confronted by someone about his sin and David's response.

David's response when Nathan confronts him in 2 Samuel 11 and 12 and Psalm 51, specifically 2 Samuel 12:13
REPENTANCE

Saul's response when Samuel confronts him in 1 Samuel 13 (v. 11) and 15 (13-16)

God forgives David: 03.09

While their are details of this lesson that don't need to be discussed with children,
THE FOCUS OF THIS LESSON NEEDS TO BE THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN.

Psalm 51:10:  Create in me a clean heart, O God,

Psalm 51:10:  Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me

The specific sin of adultery is challenging to teach here are a couple of basic ways to approach the subject:
- David stole another man's wife.
- God created marriage to be something special between one man and one woman.  David didn't act like he thought marriage was special.
