Some other ideas and suggestions

If you are planning to do the "Who's your dad?" activity from the book, here is a suggestion, especially since we are offering the single & parenting class.
Don't shy away from doing the activity because fathers are important
However, make sure the child you are asking has a father in his/her life so they don't get embarrassed when asked in front of the whole class.
Also, for snacks you can do honey graham crackers and raisins (honey & use your imagination and think "bugs).

You could also play up the idea of the coming king.

Christmas in September. Part 2.

If you don't read the parent blog, ekidzministry.blogspot.com, I would encourage you to read this Thursday posted entitled Christmas in September.

Christmas in September:  Week 2:  What a great lesson for the kids and for us.  Focus on worship with the kids.

Before getting into lesson things, here are a couple housekeeping things:

· Please be in your classrooms rooms on time: 8:50 and 10:15.  Our Single Parenting class, along with other classes start this week at 9:00.  Also, the 9:00 teachers should be able to leave the classroom with no problem between 10:15 and 10:20.

· Please make sure any food is picked up off the floor.  In some of the classrooms, we are having an ant problem between Sunday morning and Monday.  Next week we are going to be get some brooms for the classrooms.

Here are some questions and applications parents will be encouraged to talk to  their children about.  How can you help families talk about these things?

Prompt: Ask your child these questions:

· How did the wise men worship Jesus?
· What were the various responses to Jesus’ birth?

Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:

· By submitting to Jesus as Lord and King.
· By praising God for His faithfulness in fulfilling      prophecy.

Memory verse:
2 year olds through kindergarten:    Luke 2:11
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

1st through 5th grade:      Luke 2:10, 11
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

This quarter's memory verses

First, here are some corrections to the memory verses on the sheets:
1.  September verse for 2 years old through kindergarten should be Luke 2:11
2.  September 7, 14 verse for 1st through 5th graders should be Luke 2:10, 11
3.  November 2, 9, 16 verse should be Romans 8:38, 39
Sorry about any problems this may have caused.

Second, teachers you may have noticed the memory verses are set up a little different this quarter.
We are going to try this for the fall and winter.

Here is a brief explanation of what these changes are:

2 years old through kindergartners
There is one memory verse for the month.
This will give you opportunity to help the kids learn the verses maybe even make posters to hang in your room or send home with the kids.
Think through how you can teach the verse and the importance of the verse during the month.
Books of the Bible.
Through the entire Children's ministry we are going to be working through the books of the Bible.
I know some of the classes have been working on this already.  Begin with the Old Testament.
1st through 5th graders
There are two memory verses for each month.
Now I know many of the children in these classes may know these books but I am realizing we have more and more children that don't know the books of the Bible.  Encourage those who know the books to help those who don't.
