EKIDZ lesson and Sunday Sermon Connection
Hebrews 11, the passage this morning, is a great look at the Old Testament. Check out the family post on ekidzministry.blogspot.com
Here is a quote from Pastor Duke's sermon notes:
There is a big difference between us and the OT saints…
The OT saints lived looking forward but in the shadow of the cross.
We look back and see the cross in full light but still look ahead to the fulfilling of God’s promises.
This Sunday is Old Testament review. Next Sunday is the birth of Christ.

FOR THIS WEEK (08.24)...
STORY TIME:
Focus on the books from the Exile. These would be Esther, Ezra and Nehemiah. You can also use Daniel.
Here are some teaching ideas:
- BIG REMINDERS IN QUESTION FORM: What is the exile? (for younger children talk about why the Israelites were defeated by surrounding enemies. SIN PROBLEM. How did God protect His people in Esther? What did God do in the book of Ezra? What did God do in the book of Nehemiah?
- Briefly review some or all of these stories. You can use specific coloring sheets from the curriculum or go to a website like http://whatsinthebible.com/topic/activity-types/coloring-pages/ (click on volume 7)
- Memory verse review. Pick a couple of the memory verses and connect them with the principles from the different stories.
- A great activity would be to share some things you have learned during this month or quarter.
- REMEMBER: The people's sin had consequences but God remains faithfulness to His promises.
If you have some other review ideas please share them in the comment section.
FOR NEXT WEEK (09.31)...
REVIEW AND CELEBRATE OUR COMPLETION OF THE OLD TESTAMENT.
Ideas next week.

The importance of a scheduling. A good reminder.
Here is a great reminder from Faith Church in Lafayette explaining the importance of schedules.
Two reasons I believe you should check this blog post out:
- it is very important and helpful to have a written out schedule. This will benefit you, other adult helpers and the kids. Often I print out my schedule and give it to the adults in the classroom with me.
- it is related to our curriculum. This church is using the same curriculum we are using. So the sample schedules use the same terms as our lessons. "Pointing to the Truth" and "Practicing the Truth."
