01.12: Israel Rejects God as King

Date: 01.12

Title: Israel rejects God as king
Remember:  Israel had a king, God!  They rejected Him and His authority.

Passage: 1 Samuel 8—12

Principle: God is King, and we must submit to Him

Praise: He Reigns

Prompt: Ask your child these questions:
  • Why was Israel’s request for a king sinful?
  • What were God’s conditions for blessing Israel and their new king?
Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:
  • By trusting God, not human strength or wisdom, in trying times.
  • By obeying God, who is king
Memory verse:
2 year olds through kindergarten:
“Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory” (Psalm 24:10).
Connection:  God is the king.  He has authority, whether we recognize that or not.

1st through 5th grade:
“Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory” (Psalm 2 4:10).
Connection:  God is the king.  He has authority, whether we recognize that or not.
