RESURRECTION SUNDAY
Last week
Jeroboam and Rehoboam
Man, what a let down!
Not really!
Two weeks ago, depend upon God and trust Him.
God gives victory over sin and death to those who trust in Jesus Christ.
Last week, depend upon God and trust Him.
God punishes those who live in sinful disobedience.
In the kindergarten class we emphasized listening and obedience.
It is important to listen.
It is important to listen to wise counsel. Rehoboam didn't do this.
Ultimately, it is NECESSARY to listen to God. Jeroboam didn't do this.
Rehoboam was not humble. He did not obey.
Jeroboam was not humble. He did not obey.
The memory verse Psalm 147:6 speaks of humility. "The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground."
Here is a quote to consider.
“God actually delights in exalting our inability. He intentionally puts his people in situations where they come face to face with their need for him.” David Platt
Think about this quote as it relates to this past week's and next week's lesson.
God, help me to trust you!!! Thank you for Jesus Christ!!
During this week I was thinking about this story and the story of Elijah.
Paul's words in 1st Corinthians 2:2 - 5 are so very important.
For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
This Sunday's lesson is Elijah and the Prophets of Baal from 1 Kings 17:1; 18:17–46
God’s supremacy is demonstrated through humble obedience.
God's power is made known because Elijah's obeys Him.

Elijah and the Prophets of Baal: 05.04
Psalm
121:2: My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth

hills. From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth
Passage: Passage: 1 Kings 17:1; 18:17–46
Principle: God’s supremacy is demonstrated through humble obedience.
Prompt: Ask your child these questions:
Why did Elijah call the Israelites and priests of Baal to Mount Carmel?
How was God glorified through the events on Mount Carmel?
Practice: Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:
By trusting that God answers the prayers of the righteous (James 5:16–18).
By demonstrating God’s supremacy by submitting to and worshiping Him.

- You're not really making a difference.
- What you do is not as important as adult ministry.
- You don't have the ability to do this.
- You're too busy to pray.
- You're teaching kids. If you were a really good teacher, you would be teaching adults.
- No one wants to volunteer.
- No one appreciates you and your ministry.
- That kid or family can't be reached.
- You're not successful because your children's ministry is not growing. Give up and quit.
- God doesn't care. If He did, He wouldn't have let that child die.

Why did you receive the exciting problem email?
An email went out this morning to everyone who is teaching this spring.
You received this because you are scheduled to teach in the spring. Not necessarily this month. To help improve communication especially as it relates to transitions, we want everyone to get this information.
Thanks!

We have a good PROBLEM!This past Sunday was a very busy day in the children’s wing @ EBC.More kids than usual for the last couple of months. There have been several visiting families over the last couple of weeks. In order to help with the increase of kids in some of the classes, we may need to switch around some helpers.I want to continue reminding you that shoulder tapping (asking someone personally) works so much better than announcements in the bulletin and during the service.Three specific areas of need arethe 4 and 5 year olds first hourThe 4 year old classThe 5 year old class
We have SOME SPECIAL DAYS coming up!
If you are scheduled to teach and are not planning to be here, please let Andrea know as soon as possible.
UPCOMING SPECIAL DAYS:Easter 2 services (9:00 and 10:45) - No changes in children’s ministry. BUT do notice the time difference for the 2nd service.
Memorial Day (05/25)
Nursery: During 10:30 service, 10:30 teachers are on.
2 years old – 5th grade: No 9:00 am classes or teachers.
4th of July ( 06/06)
Nursery: During 10:30 service, 9:00 teachers are on.
2 years old – 5th grade: No 9:00 am classes or teacher
Labor Day (08/31)
Nursery: During 10:30 service, 10:30 teachers are on.
2 years old – 5th grade: No 9:00 am classes or teachers
Thank God for this past Resurrection Sunday!!
First of all thank God for the truth of Romans 10:9.
"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

- In some of the classes there were more children in the first service than the second service.
- We have the great opportunity to serve many different families. Families with one parent, families with children who have special needs, families that have been in the church for years, families that were in the church but have been out for a long time, families that have never been in church. PRAY that we would help these families grow closer and closer together.
- This past Tuesday, the pastors and deacons talked about the impact the children's ministry has had and will have on the recent increase in visitors coming to church. I want you to know that I and the other pastors know that children's ministry in the local church is so much more than babysitting children while the parents are in church.

Heaven is for real AND the Bible is sufficient
"We believe in the authority and sufficiency of the Word of God." from Emmanuel Baptist's doctrinal statement
What does sufficiency mean? The Scriptures contain everything we need for knowledge of salvation and godly living. We don’t need any new revelation from heaven or about heaven. With the release of the movie "Heaven is for Real" we need to remember this important truth.
Below is a quote and a 5 minute video showing the importance of Biblical sufficiency in light of recent books and movies. But before looking at these resources, think about these two verses: Proverbs 30:4 and John 3:13.
“We can say all the right things about the Bible, and even read it regularly, but when life gets difficult, or just a bit boring, we look for new words, new revelations and new experiences to bring us closer to God. We feel rather ho-hum about the New Testament’s description of heaven but we are mesmerized by the accounts of school-age children who claim to have gone there and back.” Taking God At His Word, by Kevin DeYoung, p. 46
As one of the pastors at Emmanuel Baptist Church, I want to challenge each of us to remember that the Bible is our ultimate authority and is sufficient.
